IDROVARIO - Variable Pitch Propellers
 

In addition to the SILENT range of sailplanes, Alisport SRL also produce the IDROVARIO series of hydraulically controlled variable-pitch carbon-fibre propellers.

The propeller blades are highly reliable, have an excellent safety record, very low mass and rotational inertia, with exceptional performance and durability. All our propeller blades are manufactured using carbon-fiber using the very latest pre-impregnated techniques.

Our hydraulic controls are the most advanced, lightweight, and reliable units available. These include options for a manual thumbscrew control, electro-hydraulic units with switch or digital control, and a traditional constant-speed governor.

IDROVARIO propellers and the hydraulic controls, are perfectly suited for installation on a wide variety of two-stroke or four-stroke engines:

   
   

HS BLADE
 Available in right-hand version, these blades are perfect for high speed fliers.

 
   

ST BLADE
 Available in right and left-hand versions. These blades have demonstrated remarkable performance in both the two-blade prop for 80 hp engines and three-blade propeller for 100 - 120 hp applications
   

BAY-BLADE
Available in right-hand version. Suitable for high performance aircrafts with reduced ground clearance.

 
   
   

All IDROVARIO propeller blades are designed with the aid of high precision 3D CAD software and subject to precise and rigorous testing in respect of both static tensile and bending load tests while dynamic load tests are performed on a dedicated propeller test machine.

   

Our propellers are manufactured entirely from epoxy pre-impregnated carbon-fibre, giving:
 - Significant weight reduction resulting in lower stresses from centrifugal forces and engine torque.
 - High strength and optimized stiffness.

   

The entire manufacturing process is characterised by consistency and reliability:
 - All materials are precisely cut using numeric control cutting equipment.
 - Highly consistent resin/fabric weight ratio.
 - Extensively controlled and documented quality control of lamination process.
 - Curing and heat treatment in the moulds, with computerized temperature control & recording.

 

CHOICE OF CONTROL SYSTEMS

A - HYDRAULIC ROTARY UNION
With precision micro-machined seal surfaces. Allows for oil flow through the centre of the reduction drive shaft.


B- MANUAL HYDRAULIC PUMP

Control the propeller pitch via a manual thumb-screw control.


C - ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC PUMP

Control the propeller pitch via manual electric switch. Connected to the electronic governor to transform from basic in-flight variable-pitch control to a propeller with constant-speed control.

ELECTRONIC GOVERNOR

A well proven and highly reliable instrument to provide electronic pitch control and transforms propellers operated with the electro-hydraulic control into constant-speed propellers.

The electronic governor is both intuitive and very simple to operate and designed to fit a standard 57mm panel cut-out.

 

 

HYDRAULIC GOVERNOR

The hydraulic governor is mounted directly to the standard flange on the gear reduction drive of the engine to provide traditional constant speed control.

Note: the rotating joint is not required for use with this hydraulic governor.
